Hermes changes sleeper sacs
This is the worst news for Chinatown since the US Ban on foreign rice. It seems that Hermes has now begun the process of discontinuing their staple orange felt sleeper sacs with ‘Hermes’ embossed logo which accompany their handbags at purchase to a wheat–almost tweed sleeper with brown detailing. Welcome to ‘I’ Season.
That, plus the fact that plans are in the works to HIDE the hallmark within the construction of each bag (not particularly visible unless you tear the thing apart and restitch it) seems to be their current efforts in the war on brand piracy. Send in more troops, that always works.

Chinatown isn’t the problem, Italy and France knock these bags off routinely and well. I don’t buy the bullsh*t that a ‘craftsman’ made it at home in his spare time. I’ve heard too many horror stories to buy off ebay or yahoo anymore. Too many people trying to make a buck off bogus bags. These middle aged women trot into Hermes saying it was a ‘gift’ and they have zip. Worse yet, resale stores can’t tell what crap they own or don’t, Gift? nice friends. Now the Russian Mafia distributes and controls have the game and nice people are getting ripped off or worse. Sleeper bags are the least of it. Hermes price fixes according to the secondary market-their inventory has skyrocketed in price since 2002. They pop out new styles of bags and try to bait their solid clients into buying into the game, they’re to blame, too. $7000 for a leather bag, $25000 for a crocodile/alligater bag–I’m not losing sleep over whether they get copied and miss a few dimes. As for the idiots paying Hermes retail price, they should get a life other than trotting around buying scarves and posing for one another. No one cares.
