Loree Rodkin Ginza

Adore Loree’s Ginza Outpost (the medieval basement is worth the price of admittance….and, hey….I’m buying….ANYWAY…..).

Shopping in Loree Rodkin's Ginza boutique, Tokyo

There is something sumptuous about the collection of goodies stored in the small boutique edged away from the centre of Ginza (actually….No Where Near Sony…..Printemps…… well…..Let’s just say, I think she got a deal on the real estate…Smart Chick).

It’s a warren of odds and ends….better than the rather banal assortment offered at Isetan….less of the sterling/cubic zirconia variety and more of the jiggle your jewelry from the gallery (Thank you, John Lennon) fare.

Noteworthy: some of her newest additions (Hark, who were these “INSPIRED” by…..?????????? especially now that Garrard has harnessed Stephen Webster for their creative designs…..?).

In any event—always a fun J-treat to scope out—and Hey, we know how to find the Shop now—— despite being illiterate in Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana…………If she builds it……WE will Come.

Now that’s a lot of Monogram

Holy Hard Case Luggage, Batman—-Louis Vuitton is embarking on a 7,000 square metre retail Boutique in Tokyo’s GINZA shopping district.

Their Parisian Flagship boasts 1,800 square metres–so, girlfriends, you do the math.

Needless to say, one can envision the project in terms of their estimated sales. They know who their client base is–and apparently are determined to invade the Land of the Rising Sun. And in Grand Style.

Restir at Tokyo Midtown

Tuesday’s dance card was filled with a dash to scope out Tokyo Midtown’s newest shopping Mecca. It opened April 30, 2007 with much fanfare as a rival to neighbouring Mori constructed Roppongi Hills. TM features several levels of retail and dining venues.

Outside of Restir, Tokyo Midtown

We discovered a second location of one of YYC’s fave venues in Tokyo ”RESTIR” filled to the brim with select Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Kiki de Montparnasse (Naughty in Nippon), Balenciaga, Lanvin and Rene Caovilla (do not even ask to try if your shoe size is above a 37.5)—we first stumbled upon this FAB select store (as they are known in Japan) in the Ginza.

The atmospheric dressing room at Restir

The Guest Service agent, Ayako Nigana, was not only one of the most beautiful women I’ve seen in a long time (seriously pretty, and hey, I’m straight), but she also spoke fluent English (an ever more rare commodity than you would expect from a member of the G-8 crowd). The dressing rooms were atmospheric—worthy of a Sound Stage in a Sony Pictures production. We can’t wait to shop there again. Still wish that McQueen blouse was a 42 instead of a 40. Should have bought it anyway….Alas.
