Joy to the World, Rodarte has come

No, like seriously.

Rodarte Collection at Target

Back in the Day (oh yeah, you can see where this is goin’) I thought NOTHING of blowing wads (think $8K at least) a dress on this team (women, of course) who have come up with some of the best fitting, well tailored couture confections for well…..Women (and, who would have thought that could be????).

So, shiver me timbers (Johnny Depp moment…..) Rodarte at TARGET.

The collection is indeed a limited capsule of dresses, tops, skirts, camisoles…..and, BIKINIS (BEACH BLANKET BINGO….THANKS ANNETTE) at affordable prices…

Rodarte for Target

I bought some fab pieces…my personal faves
1) printed dress with black ribbon halter
2) powder blue dress with mesh net bodice overlay a blue ‘poof’ dress
3) “Lace” (yeah, as if) cardigan featuring Snap closure
4) Faux Bubble skirt in Navy with netting
5) Sequin black pailette dress with white pailette ‘LUNG’ overlay (okay, I’m warped)
6) ENTIRE ORCHID ENSEMBLE (not to be donned together unless you truly ARE ‘Mother of the Bride’) AMEN

So, ladies, knock yourselves out. I emerged unscathed for less than $659. AND……
THAT COULD BE A RECORD FOR ME.

Yahoo.

Happy Christmas and to all……GOOD SHOPPING.

Ah, the joys of the Holiday Season and Karma

Ah, the joys of the Holiday Season and Karma.

Ganesh

(Thank you Dewey and Trog for the wonderful statue of Ganesh.)

Of course, Christmas has morphed into a universal marketing opportunity that has much more to do with Mattel and Neiman Marcus (and Target, thank you very much) than it does with the birth of Jesus Christ.

Frankly, I prefer Thanksgiving which I find to have a warmer—more genuine— spirit to it….but, well, what do I know? (Remember, it’s the holiday season, and I can return your gift.)

In Japan (the centre of my known Universe), lickety-split– that shiny tree was propped up at the first inkling of tinsel and lights. And, yeah, I want to stroll Asahi’s garden donned in tiny blue and white Italian lights……

spirit of Christmas

Funny, but it doesn’t matter about the religious affiliation you maintain as much as the spirit of giving (and receiving)…..
ho, ho, ho. And, for everything else: There’s Mastercard (elves be damned.)

So, having just blasphemed my immortal soul to Hell: we at YYC—

We wish you a Merry Christmas! (aka メリークリスマス)

As you read this, I am sifting the 2 and 1/4 cups of white flour for my sugar cookie recipe as I prepare to roll out the chilled dough to cut in cute festive shapes (Dream On — Pillsbury is probably the best you can hope for….but, I’d prepare yourself for Archway).

What do I want for Christmas? A car? A Mansion? A Bicycle? A Digital Camera? (Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Man and a warm Pastrami Sandwich?) No.

I want a little truth. Probably easier to get a Ferrari.
May the Force be with you.

Hound of the Baskervilles

Having an optically challenged Autumn?

After a few rounds of Fall fashion, I’m feeling like someone slipped a hallucinogenic drug into my morning Latte.
For me it started with the purchase of Alex McQueen’s $1699 fall tote courtesy of Eddie Curtis (yeah, my shoe guru) at Bergdorf Goodman (800.753-7300—second floor shoes….oh, and they rarely pick up the phone, but you hit the jackpot when they do).

Alexander McQueen handbag

The handbag itself is a variation on his ‘motorcycle’ bag for the season. It features two different off white/black houndstooth prints and black patent leather with gold hardware. Enough said.

Add to that separates from a range including Christian Dior Boutique and the ‘Go’ Collection at Target.

Now, that’s a lot of houndstooth. I don’t suppose you want to add shoes to the mix? If so, there are plenty of options—even McQueen with a few rounds with his extra fabric, but sometimes LESS IS MORE.

Fun as a trend, but don’t invest wads (easier to do at these price points than you might suspect) because it will be painfully dated in about three months. Enjoy.
