06a Tweed Jacket
This ’06A Tweed Jacket is YYC’s pick for the crowd that really doesn’t “get” Chanel, but HAS to find a piece. Nicely done if you’re paid to wear that with your Yurman Earrings and Pommery PINK Pop Champagne (okay, well, she probably DOES drink that….)
However, corporate contracts aside, this is not a Chanel lover’s first choice. It’s a bit Horsey for the CC crowd (afterall, can you really picture that with your VINYL Cabas bag?) and where are all the logo’s? Hummmmmm. This is a tough one.
We’ve seen it as a suit and most of the women buying this–either AS a jacket OR as an ENSEMBLE Do Not Look Like Kate Moss. In fact, they Look more like Pete Dougherty. That said, the ad campaign has not suffered. Not a YYC Endorsed Jacket.

I’ve seen this jacket in-store and I really like it. It has a very British look — the tweed is a little coarse and its certainly sturdy. I’m not a huge chanel fan — I read your blog to see what else is in the mix — so you really got my number when you said it wasn’t for the CC crowd. I really did like this jacket, but your’re right, what IS “Chanel” about it?
Hi Bayswater Cat–
I’d say the MOST Chanel thing about the jacket is the price. Karl has attempted these linear tweeds from time to time–to me, this is vaguely reminiscent of the ’98A red/white/midnight versions that he featured for preFall that season. He used hammered goldtone shamrock buttons, but the suit didn’t actually sell well at retail.
This is more wearable as a separate and the fringe detailing helps, but the contrast in the colour truly isn’t sharp enough for the definition that most Chanel addicts crave. It’s a nice transitional piece and is easily enough integrated into weekend fare, but truly, not crisp enough for corporate use and frankly, not enough fun for me to blow my cash.
Did I mention the logo buttons? Ah, I’m sure we all feel better about the $5K now.
